Climate Applications
The Climate Applications group aims to link scientists within GSFC as well as connect with external scientists in order to exchange, collaborate, and innovate on observations, models, and products with a focus on scientific advancements as well as practical solutions.
Atmospheric scientists at NASA GSFC have created a model using a machine-learning technique combined with MODIS data from NASA's Aqua satellite to automatically detect ship tracks. This pair of images of the Pacific Ocean off of the west coast of North America demonstrates the model's ability to successfully detect ship tracks. The images were acquired at night on April 22, 2005, SEE MORE.
