Research Interests

High-Energy Transient Events: Gamma-Ray Bursts

Astrophysics: Gamma-ray Bursts

The primary area of focus in Sharma's research is the study of nature's most powerful explosions, gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). These powerful bangs announce the birth of black holes or magnetars through multi-messenger astronomical signals. In electromagnetic regimes, within a few minutes, they produce the most energetic form of light; gamma-rays and X-rays followed by emission in the entire energy spectrum. It is crucial to comprehend the physics of these occurrences as they provide us with exclusive means of (a) exploring the evolution of the Universe, (b) testing the laws of physics under extreme conditions, and (c) comprehending stellar evolution.

General Coordinates Network (GCN)

Astrophysics: Analysis

Sharma is affiliated with General Coordinates Network (GCN) team, which operates NASA’s multi-messenger alert system. This system is a valuable resource for the astronomy research community, providing swift communications and alerts regarding high-energy, multimessenger, and transient phenomena.
